We design methods and models for studying how people change across the lifespan
Welcome to the MODS (Modeling Developmental Systems) Lab. As a lab, we are interested in developing and improving methods for studying change. Developmental processes in the social and behavioral sciences often unfold over multiple time scales and are manifested in multiple subsystems (within individuals, across individuals, in networks of individuals involving peers, family members, teachers, colleagues, etc.). Myriad data analytic and problems may arise in the context of studying such complex processes. For instance, what mathematical or statistical models may be used to describe how we regulate our emotions across the lifespan? How do the emotions and stress of one family member influence and are influenced by other family members as a system? How do we fit such models and explore their usefulness? These are examples of some of issues examined by members of the MODS Lab.
