Ghostly terror grips sporting event
By David Jones

PARAGON CITY, RI, July 3, 2006 – The daily events at the Talos Island Arena were brought to a bone chilling halt today by dozens of uninvited spectral spectators. To be true though, they weren't really spectating so much as spreading terror throughout the spectators.

While the ghostly green spectral tanker ship is not an unknown sight in Talos Island and Independence Port, it has never appeared like this. The otherwordly ship suddenly plummeted from the sky, colliding with the Arena and sending waves of panic larger than normal through the citizens.

“I’ve run from ghost pirates before,” related one citizen, “but it was never like this. The bow of the ship just suddenly thrust through the roof of the Arena and all these pirates came pouring out into the stands!”

“It was horrible,” related another, “this green goo was flowing out of the hull of the ship, like oil if it was a real tanker. People were getting stuck in it and you could almost see their souls being torn away...”

Heroes participating in the daily events were quick to spring into action and repel the ghastly boarding party. Casualties were kept to a minimum, and the local hospital said the rise in patients was no worse than a Devouring Earth spore outbreak in an office building.

The incident has some speculating that this could herald the start of an increase in spectral activity in Paragon City, while others feel the undead spirits just lost their way more than usual. Records have been obtained that indicate some heroes are reporting the ghost ship has chased them through a city zone in recent weeks.

One unnamed source indicates this could be the result of Arachnos forces in the Rogue Isle conducting experiments with the spectral pirates in Pork Oakes. Thus far these are just speculation, and city officials warn against taking them to seriously. Heroes are on alert however should the situation grow more severe.
