Review of EconData.net, Choice 38(Sup), August 2001.

This useful site, compiled by Impresa, Inc. and Andrew Reamer and Associates and sponsored by the Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration, contains links to over 550 sources of U.S. regional, state, and local socioeconomic data. Links are organized by category: demographics, employment, occupation, income, output and trade, prices, economic assets, quality of life, industry sectors, and firm listings. Each link is accompanied by a short description of the resource. Links are also sorted by provider, all of which are high quality. These are mostly federal agencies, but there are links to state, local, and private providers. There are also links to web-based data collections. A user's guide to finding and using socioeconomic data to analyze local and regional economies is available for free download. The site makes minimal use of graphics and, therefore, is fast loading. Registered users receive e-mail notification of the monthly site updates. No search tool is provided.
