My name is Xin Yan. In Chinese my name  is "言鑫". At this time I am a PhD candidate in College of Information Sciences and Technology, The Pennsylvania State University. Currently I am working with my advisor Prof. Xiaolong (Luke) Zhang. My research mainly focuses on visual analytics and information visualization. In the summer of 2011, I did an internship in Google Inc., working on projects about interactive data visualization.

Before joining IST, I got my my Bachelor and Master degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua Universiy, Beijing, China, in 2004 and 2007 respectively. After that from Fall 2007 to Spring 2008, I studied one year at School of Interactive Arts and Technology, Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.
