Graduate School Registry

The Council on Undergraduate Research hosts a Registry of Undergraduate Researchers.  The purpose of this registry is to facilitate matchmaking between undergraduates trained with research experience and a desire to pursue an advanced degree, and graduate schools seeking high quality students who are well prepared for research.

Any undergraduate may go to http://www.cur.org/ugreg/ to fill out a simple curriculum vitae form.  There is no charge to the student.  Graduate School representatives may contact students to invite applications or visits to the campus and laboratory, or to share information about their research programs and financial support opportunities.

We hope that students who are currently in their Junior or Senior year will register now.

CUR believes that this service will be a great benefit for both students and graduate schools by narrowing the search for the right match.  So if you are interested in graduate school, please take a moment to register now.  Be sure to include a statement of your research interests, as this will be important for making the match.

Posters on the Hill

Each spring, the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) hosts an annual undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill.  This event will help members of Congress understand the importance of undergraduate research by talking directly with the students that these programs impact.  This is a unique opportunity that, we believe, will have a very positive impact on the future of federal funding for undergraduate research.

CUR is calling for students to submit an abstract of their research that represents any of CUR's divisions.  Abstract submission will open in September of each year, and is due by mid-November of the same year.

For more information or to access the submission form, please visit http://www.cur.org/postersession.html

Student membership in CUR

While most members of CUR are faculty and administrators, many undergraduate and graduate students find it useful to become a member of CUR.  By joining as a student, you have the opportunity to network with faculty, administrators, and other students at institutions across the nation.  This has many benefits, including improving the quality of research going on at your home institution, as well as getting a head start on searching for a tenure-track position at a college or university.

CUR offers a half-price discount on membership to undergraduate and graduate students.  For the 2009-2010 membership year, the rate is $36.50.  To apply for membership, please visit http://www.cur.org/memapp.asp
