25) THON Silent Auction

On Wednesday, January 23, THON (the students of the Penn State Dance Marathon) held their very successful annual silent auction. Over $3,000 in funds raised from the auction will go towards pediatric cancer research at the Hershey Medical Center and to help families with children battling cancer.

Faculty, staff, students, and a few family members accepted the challenge to sew 40 heart-shaped huggy pillows in 4 hours for the cardiac recovery unit at Chester County Hospital. Lots of love was in the air on campus, because we exceeded our goal by creating 94 pillows in 4 hours! Each pillow contains a personal message from PSU. Thanks and congrats to all for making a difference in the lives of 94 patients at CCHOSP!

Penn State Brandywine students volunteered at Charles Papa Playground in West Philadelphia. The college students were to help rebuild a toddler's play area recently vandalized, but with the chilly weather, they focused their efforts on painting interior multi-purpose rooms. Thank you Dava Murray, from Student Life, for leading this effort!
