Dear Ms. Hankshaw:

I had the privilege of meeting you at the 1993 conference on Alien Life where
I ran the booth, "Martian: Friend or Foe?" I enjoyed speaking with you
regarding the future of our extraterrestrial communications systems.

I am writing to be considered of the position of Assistant Commander in
Charge of Welcoming Alien Visitors. I have worked welcoming various
extraterrestrial visitors all over California and the southwest, receiving the
prestigious E.T. award, among others. I have enjoyed this work and the
people and aliens I have been privileged to encounter. Your project, as well as
this position in it, sounds extremely exciting, and I look forward to finding
out more about both.

I appreciate your time and consideration of me for a position with your
establishment. I will call soon to set up an interview appointment.

Sincerely,

Duncan Smith
