These are the famous dunes at Soussusvlei.  I had to get up at 3am to get this picture, but it was worth it.  Despite the fact that it was winter, the dunes were hot by 9am.  There is only one dune that you can actually climb on (to preserve the natural landscape), and this was taken from the top of that dune.
