Figure 2: This map was also made using American Fact Finder. It is a map of median age based on the 2000 census. The map scale is approximately 3.35 miles per inch. It is interesting to note than most areas of the county are predominantly between 38 and 46 years of age, but there are two sections on the outskirts which are much younger at 26.9 to 32.5 years of age. The part of the county that I live in happens to be one of these much younger areas. The median age depicted in some of the areas is much higher due to several retirement establishments in the area, but they do not affect all of the high regions.
