A 1973 graduate of State College Area High School, Drew Frank enters his 8th season as
State College
Head Coach. At least one of Coach Frank's players has gone on to play
at the college level each year. He graduated from Penn State and was commissioned as Ensign in the United
States Navy in 1977. In 1985, he completed his Master's degree in Public Administration from George Washington
University. After resigning from the Navy, Coach Frank remained in the northern Virginia area working as
a defense
consultant to the Chief of Naval Operations. In 1986, Coach Frank
began his coaching career as the eighth grade coach at Carl Sandberg Middle School in Mount Vernon, Virginia.
He advanced in 1988 to the Junior Varsity/Varsity Assistant Coach at
Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia. In 1992, he returned to State College to
pursue a teaching certificate in order to teach and coach full time at the high school level. From 1992 to 1994,
Coach Frank served as a Varsity Assistant Coach to Mike Fergus, while earning his teaching certificate from
Lock Haven University. In 1994, Coach Frank started teaching in the State College Area School District and
coached Varsity Boys' Basketball at Bellefonte. He remained in that capacity
until he was appointed the Head Varsity position in his current role. He is a biology
teacher in the South Building. His wife, Jean, is a 1973 graduate
of State College, and they have two sons, Ethan and Wyeth.
