Coach Bender begins his 6th season on the State College coaching staff. Prior to joining the State College program as a Volunteer Assistant with the Jr. Varsity team, Coach Bender worked with youth and junior high school age players for 12 years. A graduate of Clearfield Area High School, Coach Bender participated in basketball and track. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and is retired from Penn State after serving more than 30 years as a graphic designer. Coach Bender lives near Centre Hall with his wife, Carolyn. The Benders have two children, Aimee Aiello of State College and Jesse of Skippack, PA. Coach Bender has a granddaughter, Anna Aiello, and a grandson, Jackson Bender.
