
About the Directors of the Akhenaten Temple Project

Dr. Donald B. Redford is a professor
of Egyptology in the departments of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean
Studies and History at the Pennsylvania State University. He is an internationally
renowned scholar of ancient Egypt and Biblical studies, and a noted expert
on the 18th Dynasty Amarna period. Prof. Redford is the author of several
books, including Akhenaten, The Heretic King (Princeton, 1984) and
Israel,
Canaan & Egypt in Ancient Times (Princeton, 1992), and numerous
articles. He has been frequently featured in series and documentaries on
A&E, The History Channel, and the BBC. Prof. Redford has been the director
of the ATP since 1972.
Susan Redford, MA is an archaeologist
who has been with the Project for the past 22 years. Currently she is a
research affiliate and doctoral candidate at the Pennsylvania State University.
She is the author of The Harim Conspiracy: An Investigation into the
Murder of Ramesses III (Northern Illinois, 2001) and The Tomb of
Ri'a (Toronto, 1994), and numerous articles. As field director of the
ATP's Theban Tomb Survey since its inception in 1992, she has mounted annual
expeditions to the Valley of the Nobles.
