PowerPoint presentations allow me to illustrate lessons in a way familiar to students, which also affords me the opportunity to incorporate non-traditional media in the classroom. The PowerPoint format turns the students' attention away from the structured, teacher-centered lessons they are used to; instead, they find themselves involved in the story of the presentation. I can also link websites and include video and music clips in the PowerPoints. I can easily upload all course materials to ANGEL course web space, so that students are able to spend class listening and comprehending instead of racing to copy down every word I utter or write on the board.
