  • Rules of Play:
    • The general League Game will be (see example card below):

      • 2-man teams, match play, high/low
      • 2-points per hole at most
      • 1 pt. best net low ball; 1 pt. best net high ball; no points for ties

        (1 against 2, or 1 against 1; best-ball)
      • USGA rules of play generally. (Summer rules everywhere; Play it as it lies)

    • The general Handicapping will be:

      • players will use League posted handicaps as basis
      • players will use Club posted handicap if no League handicap is available
      • matches are played with 90% of League handicaps
      • if you play a match on the back nine, subtract 1 from the hole handicaps first, before marking your card
      • players should subtract lowest league handicap of the foursome from their own handicap for match strokes

    • General Scoring will be:

      • Score cards must be turned in, dated and signed day of match
      • Indicate on which hole the match ended
      • A League Score will be computed using ESC and unplayed hole rule
      • League scores will then be used to compute League Handicaps

      • 8 artifical scores (new players) will be replaced with your first 8 adjusted match scores
      • The lowest 4 of the last 8 scores will be used for handicapping

    • General Local Rules:

      • Rule exceptions will be noted each week, if necessary
      • Embedded ball rule, through the green
      • Cell phones must be in silent mode (except on-call doctors)
      • Subs are ineligible for weekly games
      • Makeup matches can only be played the week prior to the scheduled match
      • Team no-shows, without informing the opponent, will be fined $10 for each offense

    Example

    Notes:

  • The match handicaps I post on the day of play are your 90% League handicaps.
  • The lowest handicap in the match is subtracted from all players handicap's for match purposes. This is your playing handicap for the day.
  • You get strokes on holes whose handicap number is less than or equal to your playing handicap.

In this example the "match handicaps" are determined by subtracting 5 (Zierke's handicap) from everyone else's handicap and then marking (') the card accordingly.

    Back 9 Adjustment

There are adjustments to be made so that players get strokes on the same "number" of holes regardless of the 9 they are playing. But, the handicap numbers on the front 9 are all odd 1, 3, 5, ... and the back 9 are all even 2, 4, 6, ... This can be done 1 of 2 ways:

  • After subtracting off the low man, add 1 to everyone's strokes. In the example above, the normal subtraction results in strokes: 6, 5, 0 and 5. So adjust these to: 7, 6, 1, 6 and then mark the card

    Or, ...

  • Subtract off the low man as you normally would for a match on the front 9 and then just subtract 1 from "each" of the individual back-9 hole handicap #s on the card before you apply strokes.
  • Hole  10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18
