---------------------- Spoiler text ---------------------- To get a medal on the WAG map requires financial frugality and abandonment of unprofitable sections of line. The gold medal is possible if you are careful. In 1956, the first thing that should be done is to press the pause key! 1. On pause, take a surf around the WAG and look at what industries are available and make a plan as to just what ones to serve. Galeton has two lumber mills so try to find a logging camp that is nearby. 2. Retire the Consolidations immediately if not sooner! The WAG has enough cash to buy two F9's. The F9 is fast enough to travel from Wellsville to Galeton and still make a profit. Running the Consolidations is a loosing proposition! 3. Abandon the Borrows branch. The village of Burrows was at the end of the old Buffalo and Susquehanna switchbacks. The switchbacks were abandoned in 1947 by the B&O after they took over the B&S. This line will not produce a profit! Unless an industry should just happen to popup there. :) This is often true for the Ansonia branch too but not always. 4. Buy an F9 and run passengers from Wellsville to Galeton. This will be the cash cow for the WAG. 5. If Ulysses has an industry that can be supplied, build a branch line from Newfield Jct to Ulysses. 6. Do not build track over the Coudersport and Port Allegheny! It is abandoned in 1970 and that will cut your track. 7. If you are not running trains on a section of the map, consider abandoning it. Everytime I run this map, I almost always abandon the section from Addison to Elkland. There have been times that I have abandoned all of the WAG east of Galeton. Where the industries are located will dictate this. 8. Although the player can not control this part...later in the game, both the NYC and the E-L will start running trains across the WAG. This will bring in some bridge-route cash, so look for foreign flags and smile when you see them. 9. Don't forget! If you don't like it, the editor can change many things. :)
