Welcome!
I am an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Penn State, with a courtesy appointment in the Department of Mathematics.
My research focuses on algebraic statistics, commutative algebra, computational and applied algebraic geometry, and algebraic phylogenetics. My CV is here.
Highlights
During Fall 2011, I was also a Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago. From Fall 2008 until spring 2011, I was a Research Assistant Professor (post-doc) at UIC. I spent part of Spring 2011 as a Visiting Scholar in the program on Algebraic Geometry with a view towards applications at the Mittag-Leffler Institute. During 2008-2009, I was a Research Fellow at SAMSI, as a part of the Program on Algebraic Methods in Systems Biology and Statistics.
We are planning a large algebraic statistics conference at Penn State in June 2012.
Recent meetings of interest include a Macaulay2 workshop, co-organized with Anton Leykin, which took place at the IMA, July 2011; and the Toric geometry and applications conference, Leuven, Belgium, June 2011.
Since winter 2011/2012, I am a co-Editor of the Journal of Algebraic Statistics. I am a member of the SIAM activity group in algebraic geometry, as well as ASA, SIAM and AMS.
I earned my PhD in 2008 from the University of Kentucky under the direction of
Uwe Nagel.
