The following is an excerpt from a paper I wrote for CI 495 outlining my foundations of classroom management. This offers evidence of my ability to manage and monitor an effective classroom environment. It also evidences my objective to plan and prepare for learning with understanding and my willingness to maintain professional responsibilities.

As parents, it is important you understand why and how our classroom operates. I believe that the first step in creating a successful learning environment is building meaningful relationships with my students. This includes regular student/teacher conferences to discuss progress. It is my intention to communicate to my students a sincere liking, trust and respect. I also believe that the classroom environment most conducive to learning is one in which students and teachers work together. Because I believe the students' thoughts and feelings are important, individual student differences are taken into account when dealing with discipline problems. I also believe it is important that students be given as many opportunities as possible to correct their own behavior, either individually or with my assistance. As your child's teacher, I will use my best professional knowledge to design and deliver meaningful instruction to increase the likelihood that students will succeed. I believe this type of environment decreases the likelihood that discipline problems will arise in my classroom.
