Nebulizers: Only particles between 1-5 microns (µ) are considered suitable for effective drug disposition throughout the air passages. Particle diameters that are greater than 10µ are considered too large, whereas particle diameters that are less than 1µ are too small to be therapeutically useful. Ninety percent of the particles generated by quality nebulizers fall within the optimal 1-5µ size, providing maximum drug delivery.
