Page Draglines

Hoffman used this handsome Page to strip near Pottersdale, not far from River Hill's Page. (In fact, River Hill eventually purchased this dragline and scrapped its 728.) This machine, pictured in August 1970, contains twin diesels. It is a Model 625 that originally operated in the East Broad Top coal fields of south-central Pa. It was acquired by Hoffman in the early 1960s and completely rebuilt over a period of about two years; thus it shows little outward sign of being a 600-series. Note that both photos show the Page archless bucket. In the photo at left, the Page is uncovering the deepest coal seam. The lower photo reveals that an upper seam is being mined also.
