Home Life

Family

Garygary
is a man of many talents and currently works at the Airport.  He and I enjoy the outdoors and are able to ski, run, horseback ride and bike together throughout the year.  He grew up in California - so he is a little soft when it comes to cold and hills!!!

Dogs:
Bailey - she is our 8+ year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. We adopted her in March 2005 from a rescue shelter in Pittsburgh. She is a bit fearful of people as we have no idea what her previous life was like.
Star - she is our puppy at heart. Born in the spring of 2005, we adopted her as a puppy from a local rescue called "Rescue our Furry Friends" or ROFF. She is a Weimariner/lab mix and nothing but speed and endless energy.

Horses:
Sandy - he is our palomino quarter horse. He is smarter than any of us and is a pleasure to ride.
Disco - he is our rescue thoroughbred (yes a retired race horse from the Philly area).

My Family:
My parents moved to Etowah, NC in 1997 and are enjoying the change in weather (much less snow than Erie), terrain (mountains everywhere) and people (?).  My brothers John (ENG '95) and Paul (HUM '90) and my sister Lisa live in nearby Greenville, SC.

Cycling   I enjoy riding with Gary and my friends

All my road riding is for pleasure now, but I did race a few years ago and won many races (State cycling photoChampionships in Road Racing and Time Trialing almost every year). One year I raced and finished the Tour de' Toona - a 6 day stage race in Altoona, PA.  This grueling stage race involved over 300 miles of riding which was both mentally and physically challenging. I even raced for Penn State - finishing 6th in the national championship road race when it was held out in California.

Trail Running and Mountain Biking       with the whole family and friends

We live near State Gamelands #176 (over 7000 acres of woodlands) which contains over 20 miles of trails for running, cross country skiing and mtn biking.   This area is unique in that it contains large amounts of iron and sand in the soil and has an ecosystem similar to the Pine Barrens of NJ.  As a result, it is cooler than the surrounding areas and may years has below freezing temperatures every month of the year.

Horseback Riding     Fun times!

We now own a small farmette near Stormstown. Moved in in October 2008 so it takes a few minutes to ride from our barn to the beautiful trails of Scotia Gamelands 176.
