State College, Pa., Jan. 26, 2002 -- State College overwhelmed visiting Dallastown in a nonleague contest 80-32.
Lady Little Lion Katie Glusko led all scorers with 19 points raising her season total to 362 which surpasses the previous record for points by a senior set by Rachel Onkotz last year.
Liz Gabrielle came off the bench to score 11 points and Lisa Younkin added 10 points.
The game was enjoyed by several young fans from the Houserville/Lemont Elementary School including three who sat on the bench during the varsity contest.
What those little fans saw was a dominating team from State College jump out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter which stretched to 41-10 and 62-20 through the next two periods.
The Lions, now 15-2 overall, are a determined squad with a high octane offense. The 80 points in the Dallastown game ranks among the top 11 offensive efforts by a State College team.
Dallastown came into the game with a 6-14 record. The Wildcats struggled on offense committing unforced errors that led to easy transition baskets. After all was said and done, however, noone could fault Dallastown for its effort as the Wildcats played hard for 32 minutes. Jess Winemiller led her teammates with eight points.
State College took control early jumping to a 10-0 advantage. Five Lions scored points in the opening minutes.
The State College coaching staff varied its lineup and provided plenty of playing time for its bench.
The Lions now have rolled over 10 straight opponents finding its toughest games against non-league schools.
Next up for State College is a visit Wednesday to Altoona for a rematch with a Lady Lion team it defeated 61-44 on Jan. 4. The Altoona game brings State College back into Mountain League action. Dallastown hosts Delone Catholic on Tuesday.
