Tying Instructions

1. Select proper hook, 1x long heavy wire; remove barb, and secure in vise . REMEMBER SIZE, SHAPE, AND COLOR.
2. Attach thread and wrap towards the tail, stopping 1/3 from eye. Secure a wing casing with tip towards tail using a pinch tie. Overwrap excess on shank, then reverse thread; bend casing forward and wrap back towards the bend. This overwraped area should cover the front 40% of the shank.
3. Attach sparse tail on top of shank with a pinch tie; tail length slightly shorter than hook shank. Fibers should stick straight out from shank above the bend.
4. Dub fur on thread and/or wind body material, thin at tail and thicker at wing casing.
5. Tie in hen hackle, dull side towards shank, 1x the gap by the tip, to imitate legs. Then, heavily dub thorax area of fly up to within 5% behind hook eye. Wrap hackle sparsely to where thread hangs, and fasten with 2 wraps of thread.
6. Bend casing over thorax area and fasten with 2 wraps of thread. Adjust hackle and casing to improve fly. Trim casing, finish the fly with a head, and whip finish.

Variations and Adjustments:

May include different materials in tail, body, casing, and legs. Body may be ribbed.
