SKIP

You are missed

Skip is a buckskin Quarter Horse gelding (around 30 years). We do know that his sire was a longtime standing stallion at Penn State University, Skip Sioux. He measures 15.2 hands and has a small star which looks like a "Star Trek" symbol. He carries his fathers traits. We were told that he had sired a baby or 2 before he was gelded. Skip used to be able to outrun anything in the boarding barn when we first got him. Some years later he developed trouble breathing (COPD) when working hard.

What he now lacks in youth and stamina he more than makes up for with heart. The old boy would rather run till he drops than let other horses get too far ahead of him. So to make him happy we let him "win" once in awhile out on the trail.

Skip has also performed wonderfully as a Civil War Cavalry reenactment horse. He shows no fear of anything and is gentle and safe for all riders.

Pat and Skip are 2nd from the right, their likenesses are painted exactly!
We have a copy of the painting framed and hanging proudly in our living room. We came across this painting by pure accident, flipping through a Civil War magazine. Pat saw the ad and said "Hey, this horse looks like Skippy! It is Skippy!! And that's me!" Needless to say we called and ordered the painting with OUR horse in it :-)
