DEE (Tussey's Dark Delight)

Dee is currently in foal to Maysdorf Muddy Water, an AQHA grullo stallion, for a 2006 foal...any day now!

Dee is a Foundation-bred dark bay Quarter Horse mare. Dee has the old style conformation and is 14.3 hands. Some of Dee's ancestors are King, King's Pistol, Leo and Jackie Bee. She will be 21 in 2006 and is the alpha horse of my herd. Dee was my Civil War Cavalry reenactment horse for 4 years and together we are in many photos, a few movies and featured in an oil painting hanging in a Delaware historical museum. We are also on film in the Football Hall of Fame parade in Ohio. See the above link for lots more photos of this special mare performing at reenactments.

When I bought Dee she was green-broke and I was a green rider with limited training. Together we have grown in our abilities and she has done everything I've asked her to do despite my lack of experience. From teaching her the basics, to riding English and jumping, to riding Western, to riding Military, to trail riding, she's done it all. This little powerhouse mare has even jumped clear out of a 50 foot round pen with standard size panels and very little running room! Now that's some ability for a stocky Quarter horse! Wouldn't trade her for anything!

Dee began her breeding career in 2001 at age 16. After an unsuccessful season she finally got in foal in August 2002 to Son of Hickory. Son of Hickory is a son of the famous AQHA Champion and Sire, Docs Hickory out of the legendary Doc Bar.

We welcomed the long-awaited birth of Dee's first foal, a bay colt born July 9, 2003.

Dee's colt, a grandson of Docs Hickory, should make a wonderful herd sire in the future, with his pedigree and parents conformation, abilities and wonderful temperments.

Dee had her 2nd foal, a gorgeous dun colt out of Dox Hickory Sunfrost, a dun son of Son of Hickory.
Dee had a lovely chestnut filly, Laydee, out of Maysdorf Muddy Water in 2006. She is due for another foal out of Muddy in 2007.

Oil painting at the Delaware Historical Museum. Dee and I are the first pair on the left. The artist used a photograph of my unit to paint this. The only difference between the photo of us and the painting is that the flag I'm carrying has been changed to represent a Delaware flag, and he gave me a mustache.
