About the Education and Behavioral Sciences Library CollectionThe Education Library serves the research, instructional, and professional needs of students, faculty, staff, and administrators at Penn State University in these fields: Adult Education, Instructional Systems, and Workforce Education; Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, and Rehabilitation Services; Curriculum and Instruction; Education Policy Studies; Educational and School Psychology and Special Education; and Psychology.
The Education Library Collections are located in two facilities on the University Park Campus; the Education Library in the Rackley Building and the Education and Behavioral Science Collections in Pattee Library.
The Education Library in the Rackley BuildingThe Education Library in the Rackley Building contains the "hands on" collections used in the preparation of teachers, trainers, counselors, school psychologists, educational psychologists, and administrators. Its major collections include curricular and instructional material such as textbooks, children's literature and appropriate videotapes, and those manipulatives, kits and games used in instructional settings.
The Rackley Education Library collection also includes all reference materials for both Behavioral Sciences and Education. These reference sources were formerly housed at the Pattee Library, the Paterno Library in the General Reference Department. Because the General Reference Department was split up into various subject libraries, the Behavioral Science and Education reference materials were moved to Rackley.
Reference service is provided via telephone (814-865-2842), in-person, or through electronic mail consultation with the appropriate subject specialist.
Education and Behavioral Sciences Collections in Pattee LibraryThe Education Collections in Pattee Library include holdings on the history, philosophy, research, theory, and established practice of education. Major collections include education related periodicals, the Resources in Education microfiche, and monographs shelved in the "BF" and "L" classification of the Library of Congress Classification System.
