Betsy Weber

by Joe Pillot   1982

Summertime, outside Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Is country sun, country rain and gravel roads
and country girls with their mother's eyes
And, of course, their midwest ways

Oh, I remember Betsy Weber
and that house on the hill outside Eau Claire
Every once in awhile, l remember her smile
and the first time I fell in love

We used to sing as we walked along the fence row
Throwing stones as we walked that dusty lane
I used to kid he about her father's temper
She used to wish she'd wear my last name

And I remember Betsy Weber
and that house on the hill outside Eau Claire
More than once in awhile, I'll remember her smile
and the first time I fell in love

We counted falling stars and all those silly things
Holding hands and writing our names in the sand
I was her knight, my armor shining
It doesn't matter why it ended, no, that's long forgotten stuff
But, I'll always remember the first time I fell in love

Yes, I remember Betsy Weber
and that house on the hill outside Eau Claire
Every once in awhile, I remember her smile
and the first time I fell in love
