The practice range pictured above was constructed based upon ideas from Louis Nel, one of Canada's top croquet player's. It's really quite simple: a carpet, a couple of boards, and some foam rubber is all that's needed to build the indoor practice range. The shooting range is very effective and nicely serves it's main purpose: to practice croquet instead of shoveling that 2 feet of snow off the driveway!
The shooting range is 35 feet long. However, using another of Louis Nel's ideas, you can replace the target croquet ball with a smaller object to simulate shots longer in length. I use a spring that is 3/4 of an inch wide suspended on a wodden crossbar. Hitting the spring from 35 feet is equivalent to hitting a croquet ball at about 63.5 feet.
