In Your Face: Developing and Using
Facial Graphics Within Blades of Exile

by Brett Bixler

Applying facial graphics to your BoE scenario can be problematic. That's probably because most people use facial graphics in two different places - talking dialogs and display dialogs. Both require somewhat different techniques to prepare and place these graphics within your graphics sheet.

Preparing a Facial Graphic for a Talking Dialog

The Original Graphic is 32 X32 pixels.

This graphic is divided in two 16w X 32h parts that sit within two 28w X 36h sections as follows:

To use, add 1000 to the slot the left graphic is in. Put this number in the facial graphic space in BoE.

In this example, the left graphic is on slot 20, so use the number 1020 to reference it.

Preparing a Facial Graphic for a Dialog Picture (Display Dialog (Dialog Pic))

The original graphic is 36 X36 pixels.

This graphic is divided in two 18w X 36h parts that sit within 2 28w X 36h sections as follows:

To use, add 1000 to the slot the left graphic is in. Put this number in the pict spot.

In this example, the left graphic is on slot 14, so use the number 1014 to reference it.
