Dr. Ann (Nan) Crouter

Principal project investigator, Dr. Crouter leads the Penn State Social Science Research Institute.  Dr. Crouter’s ongoing research projects in the fields of family and work research is at the forefront of these research areas.

Dr. John W, O’Neill

Professor O’Neill teaches and researches in the area of lodging operations and strategy at Penn State.  Prior to his professorship at Penn State, he was Professor in the International Hotel School at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. Previously, Dr. O’Neill was Senior Associate in the Hospitality Industry Consulting Group at the international accounting and consulting firm of Coopers & Lybrand in New York, and had been the  Director of Market Planning for Holiday Inn at its Eastern Regional Office in Boston. Previously, he held unit-level, regional-level, and corporate-level management positions with Hyatt and Marriott in a number of different locations.

Dr. O’Neill has served as a consultant and/or facilitator to the Pennsylvania Lodging & Tourism Association, Rhode Island Hospitality & Tourism Association, Marriott International, Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Ritz-Carlton, among others.

 

 

 

Dr. David M. Almeida

Specializing in the study of how stress affects health, Dr. Almeida also leads the National Study of Daily Experiences, which brings invaluable insight to our study.

Dr. Jeanette (Jan) Cleveland

With her expertise in organizational psychology, and special interest in performance evaluations and appraisals, Dr. Cleveland’s experience with large organizational culture is a crucial piece of our puzzle.

Michelle Harrison M.S.

Studying for her doctorate in Industrial./Organizational Psychology, Ms. Harrison brings an unparalleled enthusiasm and passion for the study of leadership in organizations.  This will be her second year as a graduate assistant for the Center for Work-Family.  In addition, to work family and leadership, Ms. Harrison also focuses her studies on teams.

Qu Xiao

Studying for his doctorate in Hotel Real Estate and Planning, Mr. Xiao brings his background in the hotel industry and previous research studies of general managers to our team’s collaboration.

Amy Snead

As a former Assistant General Manager and General Manager with Hampton Inns as well as her sales and operational experience with both Best Western and Choice Hotels International, Mrs. Snead brings her first-hand hotel industry knowledge to the team and serves as the Director of Hotel Industry Research.

Dr. Laura Klein

Dr. Klein is an associate professor at The Pennsylvania State University who works, specifically, with the department of Bio-Behavioral Health and coordinates the efforts of the biological aspect of the research project.

Dr. Susan McHale

 

Susan McHale, Professor of Human Development, works 
with the group on the assessment of family processes and parenting.
