My Research Experience

Professional Resume | Curriculum Vitae | Research portfolio

My primary research interest lies in psychological effects of new media technology. My research advisor is Dr. S. Shyam Sundar. I am affiliated with the Media Effects Research Group (MERG) at PennState and have also served as the Media Effects Research Lab (MERL) coordinator for two years.

I have mainly focused on the importance of user centered research ideas and have strived to understand individual differences in today's new media users. I also find the concept of 'content tailoring' really interesting and so I have conducted a few studies on customization features on myYahoo! and Google News. My research agenda also includes a few projects that differentiate between customization (a user initiated tailoring activity and personalization (a machine initiated tailoring activity). I have also worked a little bit with physiological data. One of the studies I conducted looked at physiological effects of video game play on enjoyment.

Along with a few conference papers, I have also published an encyclopedia entry with Shyam on Human-Computer Interaction which I've been studying for a while.

Here is a copy of my Professional Resume and my Curriculum Vitae . (Needs Adobe Reader).

My research portfolio contains details about some of the projects I've been involved in.
