C18-L: Resources for 18th-century studies
across the disciplines

THE SELECTED READINGS PAGE

Greetings. Selected Readings is an interdisciplinary bibliography of eighteenth-century studies, covering as many topics in as many areas as we can manage. SR comprehensively covers the so-called "long 18th century," which means roughly 1660-1830, though these time boundaries are almost as arbitrary as centuries, which are in fact pretty darned arbitrary, aren't they? Contributions are provided by volunteers; they are compiled, edited, and made webready by Netwallah Kevin Berland.

Journals page and sign up as a volunteer contributor! This page is out of date--please help to update it!Please use these pages with your browser set to display graphics, so that we can maintain an accurate count of the number of people who use the bibliography.
The Selected Readings Search Engine
This search engine will find single-word instances in all the available back issues of Selected Readings. Please make your query in the form of a single word (combinations don't work). The search engine automatically truncates words: "Scot" would find Ascot, Sir Walter Scott, Scotland, Scottish, Nova Scotia, Duns Scotus, Penobscot, butterscotch, and so on. |

Selected Readings has been named an Honor Roll Selected Site by edHelper.com
We continue to work on upgrading the Selected Readings site. Please note that issues listed below in green type are still missing -- we'd be grateful for any help in recovering the early issues, so this site will contain all the past numbers of Selected Readings. In case you were wondering what goes into the compilation of these running bibliographies, you will find the standard disclaimer, epilogue, and so forth, at the
Modus Operandi page. To see the bibliographies themselves, follow these links (issues not yet reconfigured for this page and missing issues will not come up).

Early issues of Selected Readings were circulated as text files to C18-L subscribers between 1992 and 1997. They are offered here without editorial revision, which means they may lack special characters, diacritical marks, and fancy formatting.
