Greetings and welcome to my corner of Cyberspace, a virtual dwelling located on Penn State's personal server.  Here you will find my vita and a compendium of links to other sites and resources that reflect my personal and professional interests.

My background is very diverse--my parents are from the beautiful Caribbean island of Jamaica, a country of sun-drenched beaches, warm tropical breezes, and rich cultural heritage.  In the 1960s, my parents journeyed to England where I was born.  We moved to the United States in the early 1970s, where I was raised and have spent most of my life.
I earned my doctorate in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Presently, I am a Professor of Criminal Justice in the School of Public Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg.  Prior to coming to Penn State, I taught at Coppin State University and the University of Baltimore.  I also served as a fellow at Harvard University's W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for Afro-American Research.  In recent years, I have also served as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Center for African American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
My current research projects focus on: race, ethnicity, and crime; private security; and, criminology and criminal justice pedagogy.  Recent publications have appeared in a variety of criminal justice and black studies journals.
Thanks for stopping by.  If you would like to contact me, my email address is slg13@psu.edu.
