Why PDF?

Papers in the social sciences are typically not suitable for plain ASCII text, as tables, figures and equations are usually central to the paper. PDF allows fully-formatted documents to be distributed across the Web regardless of the program or platform used to create the original document. Documents can be viewed on screen (zooming in and out is possible) and printed in part or in whole.
