Download and Installation Guidance for the Introduction to Linear Programming Module

If possible, print these directions out for easier reference. Follow these steps to download, install, and run the Linear Programming module.

  1. The download is a 43 megabyte file. Point your Web browser to:

  2. Click the Linear Programming lesson link (which points to the file "LP_Setup.exe").

  3. Depending on your browser and its configuration, "LP _Setup.exe" will either begin to download automatically, or you will be prompted to save or open the file. If the file downloads automatically, note where your computer is putting the file or perform a file search on "LP _Setup.exe" after the download is complete. If you are given the choice of saving or opening, choose to save and remember where you are placing the file.

  4. After the download, close all open windows and programs. Navigate to the location where "LP _Setup.exe" was saved. Double click the file to begin installation.

Internet Explorer users: The file may launch automatically after download for you.

Note: Before installation finishes, you may be prompted to restart your computer. Please do so. Please be patient after the restart. Installation will resume automatically within a minute or so after restart. You should not need to start the installer a second time.

  5. Follow the prompts during installation. All you really have to choose is where you will save the program files. The default location is your Program Files folder, but you can place it where you like.

  6. If you have previously run the TSCC installer for the "Introduction to Regression" module, then you do not need to run the TSCC.exe file again. If you have not previously done so, then once program installation has finished, you need to run TSCC.exe to install the necessary video support for the program. This should take less than 5 seconds. Do this by double clicking on the "TSCC.exe" file found in the folder created in the previous step. The default location is C:Program FilesLinear Programming. You will not need to restart your computer.

  7. You will find a shortcut icon on your desktop called "Linear Programming." A shortcut is also placed in your Windows Start>Programs menu. You can use either shortcut to start the module.

  8. If your taskbar, the bar at the bottom of your screen, appears on top of the Linear Programming module, then exit from the program, right click on your taskbar and choose "Properties." Uncheck "Always on top" and click "OK." Then start the program again.

  9. If you have any problems installing or running the module, call 814-865-0366 and ask for Bill Rose or Amy Garbrick.

7. 8. If the operating system of your computer is Windows 98, then you may see a pop-up box when you begin the Linear Programming module. Just click "continue." 9.
