Integrating GPS and GIS

The above image shows four location points on a Penn State campus map. The for point marked and located on this map are the E side of the IST building, the Willard Building, Pattee Library, and then the last point being the HUB (front).

The experience was an enjoyable one as it was nice to get out of the classroom for once and do some hands on work, and the fact that we never ran into any complications with finding the way points made it that much better.

We found some success with collecting the way points and the Garmin 12 channel GPS receiver was relatively easy to use. The more tedious task was trying to figure out how to download and save the data which was done through the use of Waypoint software, but after a few complications the process became quite easy. With the data saved, Arcmap was used in creating the map above.
