Note: All ratings are my initial personal opinions of the quality of the Web sites, nothing more.
Also: if I didn't think the sites were good, they wouldn't be here. So, one star isn't bad, it's just at the low end of "good enough to link."

General Resources Rating Description

Errata * Errata for the 11th edition of our textbook (1st printing).
Errata * Errata for the 11th edition of our textbook (2nd printing).
Activ Physics Online *** Applets, etc. for the 11th edition of our textbook. For this course, select "Part V: Optics" and "Part VI: Modern Physics"
Student Resources for the 10th Edition of Young and Freedman's University Physics **** Includes some good multiple choice problems, etc.
Self-Assessment Tests *** from the Cutnell and Johnson text
Tippens Physics, 7th Edition *** Includes online quizzes, interactive applets, etc.
Physics Evolution **** An applet showing some of the historical evolution of physics, through key people and places.
The Scientific Revolution ** Excerpts from Brooklyn College's course "The Shaping of the Modern World"
A View from the Back of the Envelope *** Teaching tools using approximation
My Links page ? Many links covering many general physics areas.

Similar Courses Rating Description
Physics at University Park ***** Note: Click the link for Physics 214
Syllabi and Sample Exams *** from Dr. Michael R. Gallis, professor of physics at Penn State Schuylkill. The latter portion of Physics 203/4 is similar to Physics 214.
All Physics Undergraduate Courses ** from Purdue University. Look at the course titles to find those similar to ours. Most include practice exams, lecture notes, useful links, applets, etc.
MIT OpenCourseWare ***** Several of the courses include sample exams, and actual given exams, with solutions. Some also include video files of the lectures themselves. Scan through the course titles to find ones similar to this course.

Chapter 32: Electromagnetic Waves Rating Description
Electricity and Magnetism Animations *** Animations: In this course, we will use the "Electromagnetic Waves" animations at the bottom of the page.
Propagation of an Electromagnetic Wave *** Applet
Applet: Spectrum * Applet: A generic view of the full electromagnetic spectrum, showing wavelengths, frequencies, names, what makes them, and how you observe them.

Chapter 33: The Nature and Propagation of Light Rating Description
Light in air and water: reflection and refraction ** Applet
Dispersion *** Applet: How water droplets make a rainbow
Huygens' Principle: Reflection and Refraction *** Applet

Hyperphysics: Polarization **** Information, diagrams: good descriptions of all the polarization topics we cover.
Applet: Polarizers * A light source, sensor, and your choice of 1-3 polarizers in any orientation. Observe the resulting intensity at the sensor, relative to the intensity created by the source.

Chapter 34: Geometric Optics and Optical Instruments Rating Description
Ray Tracing **** Applet
Virtual Optics ** Applet: ray tracing. I find the above applet better for simple cases, though this can have more elements shown at once.
Ripple Tank **** Applet: For this chapter, see the "Setups:" "Parabolic Mirror" (1 and 2), "Biconvex Lens" (it helps to lower the brightness), "Right Angle Prism," and "Porro Prism"
