ABOUT THE LAB

The Electromagnetic Communication laboratoray (EMC lab) is affiliated with the Electrical Engineering Department at Pennsylvania State Universtiy. This lab has been focusing on the research of Computational Electromagetics since it was founded by Prof. Raj Mittra in 1996.

 

NEWS

The European Conference on Antennas and Propogations, held in Rome, Italy, April 11-15, 2011.

Prof. Raj Mittra gave a short course and five talks  at the European Conference on Antennas and Propogations, held in Rome, Italy, April 11-15, 2011. His short course was entitled "Electromagnetics and Its Applications to Antenna Engineering." His talks were titled "Making a Transition from University Research Lab to the World of Commerical Software," "Cloaking a Reflector Antenna Using Coordinate Transformation Approach," "A Low-Reflection Flat-Lens Design for Microwave Imaging System," "the Hybridization of Dipole Moment (DM) and Finite Methods for Efficient Solution of Multiscale Problems," and "Real Time Estimation of Motion and Range of RFID Tags."

The Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES) Conference, held in Spokane, Virginia, March 27-29, 2011.

Prof. Raj Mittra was a session chair/organizer at the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES) Conference held in Spokane, Virginia, March 27-29. He also gave two talks entitled "GEMS Universal- A General Purpose Time and Frequency Domain Matrix-Free CEM Solver for Real-World Practical Antenna, EMI, and EMC Problems" and "FDTD Modeling of Metamaterials and Invisible Cloaks."

Technical Seminar held at the National University of Singapore in Singapore, March 10, 2011.

Prof. Raj Mittra of the EE department was an Invited Speaker at a Technical Seminar held at the National University of Singapore in Singapore, March 10, 2011. His talk was entitled “Strategies in Computational Electromagnetics for Solving Real-World Problems.” This seminar was co-organized by the Temasek Laboratories of the National University of Singapore and the IEEE Singapore EMC and MTT/AP Chapters.

The 2011 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology, held in Hong Kong, March 7-9, 2011

Prof. Raj Mittra of the EE department was an Invited Speaker at the 2011 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology, held in Hong Kong, March 7-9 2011. His talk was entitled: “Some Recent Developments in that the Metamaterial-Based Antennas, EMC/EMI, Plasmonics and Electromagnetic Absorber Designs.” Prof. Mittra was also joined by fellow colleagues to deliver a talk entitled “A Numerically Efficient Approach to Metamaterial (MTM) Modeling.”

Prof. Raj Mittra of the EE department was an Invited Speaker at the Electromagnetics Group Workshop, held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, February 22, 2011. This workshop was sponsored by the Electrical Engineering Department of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals School of Engineering Sciences. Prof. Mittra delivered an invited talk entitled “Some New Challenges in Computational Electromagnetics and How We Are Meeting Them.”
