EARN 6 CREDITS IN 4 WEEKS (out-of-state tuition waved)
The Penn State University Altoona College Summer program at the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca, in Oaxaca, Mexico, offers students a unique opportunity to develop their language skills and to learn about the indigenous cultures and people of Mexico, while earning between 6-9 credits in 4 weeks. Courses to be offered during the four- week study and tour program include: Intermediate Spanish 3, Intermediate Conversation 110, Advanced Oral Expression and Communication 410, and Mexican Culture and Civilization 499.(Focus on southern Mexico). Conversation classes are designed to cater to the needs of majors in the professions. Located in the setting of a 19th-century Oaxaca estate, the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca provides the perfect environment for study and interaction with local students. The Institute is located in the heart of colonial Oaxaca featuring both modern and ancient Mexican culture. Tours include visits to the Monte Alban & Atzompa, Mitla, Tlacolula & Tule, and Yagul, Teotitlan del Valle & Tlacochahuaya archeological sites,and a 3-day visit to Mexico City to explore its unique, architecture, culture, and museums.
