Note: This is a fangrrl post. If you aren't a web designer, and aren't into web standards, you will just need to bear with me. Because I am, and it's my blog. *grins* Here goes...

T - 2 weeks. The Penn State Web Conference is officially on in less than two weeks. At that time, the godfather of web standards, Jeffrey Zeldman, is keynoting the opening day of the conference. This is a huge opportunity for this conference, because this guy is the essence of what we should be doing on the web. Zeldman has been about standards waaaay before anyone was really paying attention--or even understanding why they should be paying attention. This is a huge opportunity for me, because it will be the first time I've seen him speak in person. I've desperately wanted to go to his amazing traveling series, An Event Apart, but have never been in a position to attend. I almost won a free ticket to a Boston event last year, but almost doesn't get me in the door. This time, however, I'm ready. I've got a slot at the conference, and I'll be in the front row. Probably taking pictures and notes. Because I can.

A Lemur Apart.

Here, in a nutshell, is what happened in the standards world several days ago. Micro$oft decided to go their own way in IE8, propose the unthinkable, and the online web standards world became a madhouse. Thanks to Eric Meyer's twitter post, I was able to find this easy-to-follow tutorial entitled "X-UA-Lemur-Compatible." Note the blue beanied Zeldman at ALA (A List Apart). I doff mine to you.

I wonder if the lead lemur jumps off the cliff, and the other lemurs follow, who wins the browser war? The people over at Etch-a-sketch?

Just call me Robin2go.
