Experience
1

Research Assistant, (Aug 2004 – present).Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA. Performed research under Professor Tarasankar DebRoy to develop a numerical model for reliably predicting weld characteristics during high intensity laser or electron beam keyhole mode welding using genetic algorithm as an optimization tool. Modeling studies of keyhole mode welding process can help understand the formation of porosity in keyhole welds and help reduce their occurrence in addition to the prediction of weld geometry, temperature distribution, cooling rates, and residual stresses in the work-piece.

2

Teaching Assistant, Pennsylvania State University, “Engineering Materials” (Spring 2005, Fall 2006, Spring 2008) – assisted in making presentations, designed quizzes, graded answer books, helped students with their doubts, and maintained a course website.

3

Undergraduate Research, June 2003 to May 2004. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, INDIA. Used genetic algorithms to optimize roll-scheduling at hot-strip mill to minimize distortion .

4

Summer Training, June 2003 - July 2003. TATA MOTORS, Jamshedpur, INDIA. Studied distortion of gear components during heat treatment.

Computer Skills
Programming Languages:  C, FORTRAN, Java.
Technical Software: Ansys, Tecplot, Mathematica.
Computational Methods: Genetic algorithm based optimization, finite element, finite difference and control volume methods.
