In order to incorporate technology in my classroom, and to support change in pedagogical methods, I have implimented the use of ANGEL in my course management. Using ANGEL to communicate with my students is a fast and efficient way to keep in touch with them. When I have more independence with my students, I will use ANGEL to create anonymous surveys so as to receive feedback throughout the semester. That would allow for me to continue to better my class as the semester progresses, instead of having to wait for the SRTEs and then implement those changes the following semester.
By placing homework assignments in ANGEL allows learners to work together on their homework, side-by-side, in a computer lab. This allows them to discuss the homework as they do it, and also makes the learning process more fun for them, since they feel as if they can work with a classmate towards the goal of completing the homework but still having social interaction. With the mail features in ANGEL, as well as via our e-mail class lists, the students can freely interact with one-another, with or without including the instructor.
In future classes, I will be able to post projects that my students have completed for the class. Knowing that the projects will be placed on-line may force them to produce better end-products, for it will be recorded and available for others to view (both inside and outside of the class).
On-line resources are readily available to my learners. Links are both found in ANGEL as well as on my webpage to outside links.
As seen here, the use of videos is an excellent opportunity for learners to experience first-hand the culture and language. They can practice their listening skills as well.
YouTube is another great source for information for both learners and instructors. I have used many videos for illustrative purporses in the classroom. Furthermore, we have used videos to obtain ideas for classroom projects.
