I guess your linguistic ability helped your skills in computing languages. It is amazing to speak five languages, which is a great gift. You are not an international student but real "international" student. :)

The IEEE and ACM are such vast communities. I found that I was wading through them as well. I also liked the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy. However, I found their publications very high-level... and I wonder what it takes to get published there... although I wouldn't mind the trip to California to present!

As far as the ACM goes.. did you see the ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security? (check out http://www.sigsac.org/ccs.html) The conference is next week in Alexandria, VA. Very interesting! You should check it out.

It's amazing how well timed your post is. I've just done a lot of reading on cognition, human information processing, and interaction with computers. I believe that the Yahoo Shine site is an interesting example of personalized user modeling.

I would like to assure you that I enjoyed reading all of your posts. My only regret is that Russian is not one of your favorite languages;)

Rachida, your blog entry was very nice. It is interesting to me to see the research done by others to get to a place that I have taken advantage of because I live here. I hope that you continue to be reassured that you've come to the right place. I am certainly glad you are here!
