Other cultivars and species: Most Gladiolus cultivars are hybrids and are often listed as Gladiolus x hortulanus Three main hybrid groups, Grandiflora hybrids, Nanus hybrids, and Primulinus or Butterfly hybrids, species grown include G. communis, G. murielae. Gladiolus x gandavensis  is a hybrid of G. natalensis x G. oppositiflorus.

Zone: 8-10, dig corms and overwinter indoors in cooler climates.

Identifying characteristics: Lance shaped leaves, Showy flower spikes with flowers with 6 tepals.

Culture and use notes: Use in mixed beds or as a border. Many grown as cut flowers.
