Begonia sp. 

Common name: Begonia

Other cultivars and species: Many species and hybrids used commercially. Wax begonias are in the Semperflorens Cultorum Group, sometimes listed as Begonia x semperflorens-cultorum. Begonia rex-cultorum  are “Rex begonias”. Tuberous begonias are in the Tuberosa Group sometimes listed as Begonia x tuberhybrida. Begonia x benariensis  is a recent hybrid between angel wing begonia and fibrous begonia hybrids. ‘Angel wing’ begonias are commonly used in containers and for hanging baskets.

Zone: Varies, Tropical - grown as annuals  

Identifying characteristics: Round to wing shaped leaves, sometimes with silver or red. Flowers are large and soft (tuberous) or cymes of rounded single or double flowers

Culture and use notes: Use in annual beds, containers or as houseplants.
