Supporting Social Identity in Facebook through Tagging(Intelligent Agent Lab, College of Information Sciences and Technology, The Pennsylvania State University, Jan.2009-May 2009)Co-proposed adopting collaborative tagging instead of collective tagging for social identify in Facebook, using tag cloud to describe a person, manage and categorize tags for further search, and using tags to discover community structure and make recommendations based on tags
Survey: Temporal Evolution of Social Networks(Intelligent Agent Lab, College of Information Sciences and Technology, The Pennsylvania State University, Aug.2008-Dec. 2009)Reviewed more than 50 papers, and introduced the state of art of static community discovery and evolution of social networks; Summarized the limits and trends of the current research status, and several promising directions in this area.
Finding Community Structure in the Network based on Data Field Theory(Complex Networks Group, National Key Lab of Software Development Environment, Beihang University, Jan.2007–Jun.2008) Co-proposed the community detection algorithm based on data field theory by locating the local high potential areas margined by low ones;Discovered centers of communities by their topological potential values based on Hill Climbing Algorithm, proposed to combine multi-centers in the same community to find the virtual local maximum;Distributed nodes to communities based on their connection attributes.
Evaluate Nodes Importance in the Network based on Data Field Theory(Complex Networks Group, National Key Lab of Software Development Environment, Beihang University, Jan.2007–Jun.2008) Co-proposed the algorithm to evaluate nodes’ importance based on data field theory by ranking nodes’ topological potential values;Sought the minimum potential entropy to find the proper parameter which controlled nodes’ influence regions, discovered the mutation of potential entropy value, proposed to divide the value range to locate the parameter;Ranked nodes according to their topological potential value based on Gaussian potential function.
Name Duplication Detection in Citation Network(Data Mining Group, College of Software, Beihang University, Mar.2007-Jul.2007) Proposed the approach to apply the community structure of citation collaboration network to block name variances of the same authors using weighted Girvan-Newman algorithm;Detected duplicate author names using cosine similarity combined with TF-IDF weighting scheme and Q-gram distance.
