Step 1 - Download and Save Software (updated on Nov. 16, 2011)

  • Download the right version of iclicker software for the computer you will use in class if you don't have it already. The Windows and Mac versions of i<clicker 6.1.6 are available from http://iclicker.com/support/downloads/. If you already have Windows 6.1.5 or Mac 6.1.4, you don't need to upgrade it. They both work for the model of iClicker adopted by Penn State:

  • Extract the compressed file so that you will have a folder called iclicker Win v6.1 or iclicker Mac v6.1. No program installation is needed. You can run the program directly from your P drive, and all data collected will be automatically saved in this folder under the corresponding classes.
  • For details on where to save the file and how to update the software, please watch this video: iClickerSoftware_Location.swf.

Step 2 - Create Courses
(updated on Sept. 1, 2011)

  • In the iclicker Win v6.1 folder, there are two programs: iclicker.exe is for polling, and igrader.exe is for viewing collected data, checking grades, and generating reports.
  • If you teach more than one course, you will need to create and set up each course individually. Here is the video instruction CreateNewCourse.swf.
  • Each time you create a course, the software will generate it's own folder under Classes, and the data collected from that course will be automatically saved in that class.

Step 3 - Configure Course Settings (updated on Nov. 16, 2011)

  • DO NOT USE the default radio frequency channel AA. For 2011, each Behrend professor has been given a unique frequency number. Please refer to the assigned iClicker Frequency.xls (last updated on Dec. 07) and use that channel only. You can use the same frequency again and again if you meet different groups of students at different times.

  • You can use My Settings to decide the default settings for one session or for multiple sessions of the entire course. The iClicker course's export format must be set to be compatible with ANGEL. Here are the video instructions on how to set up a course:  MySettings_GeneralRegistration.swf and MySettings_PollingScoring.swf.
  • If you choose to Resume Session, your clicker questions will not start from No. 1 but will be continued from where you stopped last time.

Optional - Sync Student Roster Info. (updated on Sept. 16, 2011)

  • You can sync student registration data (such as first, last name) with the iclicker devices and the responses you received in class. Before using the sync function, you should have completed the following:
    1. Created an ANGEL compatible class in iClicker as demonstrated in the previous clip MySettings_GeneralRegistration.swf;
    2. Most of your students completed online registration of their iClickers;
    3. You have completed a polling session in class;
    4. Your have exported a class roster from ANGEL (DownloadRoster_Save.swf) and that file is placed in the class folder inside iClicker;
    5. You are connected to the Internet.

    If you are ready, please follow this video tutorial: Sync.swf.
  • Lastly, this clip shows what's inside igrader and how to use it.
