My information technology consulting career has taught me what my undergraduate degree could not - how to work in a team environment to implement a successful information technology solution. The traditional view of managing only the client, scope, and technology does not ensure success. I believe it is as important, if not more important, to understand the people using the technology, the work supported by the technology, and the information needs of the end users - leading to a complete solution. This belief has led me to the following: applying a social informatics perspective on collaborative systems.
Additionally, I am interested in how organizational teams work together to find needed information, collaboratively use that information and create knowledge. I am currently working on a National Science Foundation funded research project, under the supervision of Madhu Reddy, to identiy triggers for collaborative information behavior in the context of information technology teams of a rural hospital.
