In Laymen's Terms:

As a media effects scholar, I am most interested in how our consumption of entertainment affects how we view ourselves and each other. Believe it or not, our interactions with media inadvertently affects our interactions with others as it shapes our perceptions of what is acceptable and what is true. While media effects research cannot claim that watching TV ruins our lives, enough studies, both experimental and observational, have shown that to some extent what we see is what we believe---even if it is a false reality.

In addition to being a professor, I would most like to apply my understanding of media and perception of media messages by working as a consultant.
