Candidacy Exam

My candidacy examination consisted of a literature review of a topic of my choosing. I chose to research the development of situational awareness in security analysts by using multi-sensor data fusion.

This was one of the first classes where I thought that graduate school might be an option for me. The project was only a poster, but it was an evalaution of the (then) School of IST at Penn State. We were supposed to predict what the timeline of development of the school would be over the next number of years. I helped the team to understand that we should use some of the academic theories presented in the class. We decided to evalaute the School's development using the Griener Model of Organizational Development that was presented in the textbook. The academic article that this was based on is Greiner, L., “Evolution and Revolution as Organizations Grow: A company's past has clues for management that are critical to future success,” Family Business Review, 10(4), 397 (1997).
