AnthSpace Analytical Cartography Lab
Research conducted in this laboratory broadly focuses on spatial analysis of human behavior. The main emphases of investigation include but are not limited to:- The development of socio-political complexity
- Conflict, warfare, resistance, and diplomacy
- Pedestrian movement
- Rapid high resolution mapping of large spaces
- Stereo-photogrammetry; Structure from motion (SfM)
- Low-altitude, small format, aerial photography (kites, fixed wing R/C, and pole)
The blog is an active portion of this research lab website. Posts range from tutorials to a sharing of experiences in the domains of photogrammetry and GIS. Kite aerial photography (KAP) capabilities were recently added to the lab.
At present, the pages comprising this website are largely the outcome of research that is being conduced in Peru by Nathan Craig and Margaret Brown Vega. Those interested in other research projects run out of the PSU Anthropology GIS lab are encouraged to turn to the Department of Anthropology web site. One will find that investigators are examining case studies in: Central Mexico (Hirth, Luna); Ecuador (Dyrdahl); and Syria (Hritz).
Lab Location: The PSU AnthSpace Analytical Cartography Lab runs on computer infrastructure housed in the Department of Anthropology, Carpender Building Room 101.
